2018 Highlights & 2019 Goals

As the new year approaches and 2018 comes to an end, it's time for us to reevaluate, reflect, and set some goals! Every year, we realize that we make New Year's resolutions only to forget them soon after. We don't want that to happen this year. We've decided to really reflect on the things we want in the new year and to set a plan to make them a reality. We're also pragmatists, we know that changes don't happen overnight and small compounding changes make for big differences in the long run.

A dream written down with a date becomes a goal. A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan. A plan backed by action makes your dreams come true.

Let's recap some of the highlights from 2018:

• We spent the majority of 2017 traveling between MA and CA for work. In 2018, it led to a job offer for Woody and our big move cross country!

• Suhaila started 1st grade as a homeschooler.

• We road tripped across the country for over 3 weeks, crossing 18 states, and visiting over 8 National Parks and national landmarks.

• Our family visited us in CA for the first time and got to see some of the amazing reasons we decided to move out here.

• I personally knocked off a few things off my bucket list by taking my first surf lesson, road tripping cross country, and going white water rafting.

These are some of our goals for 2019:

• See the Northern Lights.

• Get SCUBA certified.

• Teach Khalisah to swim independently and teach Suhaila to snorkel.

• Travel more and explore the Pacific Northwest.

• Visit even more national parks!

• Continue challenging ourselves to get uncomfortable by asking ourselves the hard questions and not being afraid to find the answers.

• Focus on our health and staying active consistently, especially by spending time outdoors.

• Continue minimizing material possessions and living mindfully.

Each of us has set personal goals for 2019, which feels like it'll be the biggest year yet for us! We also want to continue to maintain the goals we created when we moved out here and formed our family pact. We want you to create a family pact of your own!
